One idea. Two innovative founders. Countless safer nests.
After one too many paper slips came home in lunchboxes, Emma and Mark Black knew there had to be a better way. So they built it.
Both professionals in technology and HR, Emma and Mark partnered with New Zealand educators and auditors using digital tools that would help centres and schools go paperless, keep tamariki safe, and stay audit-ready.
What began as SafetyNest for early learning centres was soon joined by UnderWing, a version tailored to the complex needs of schools, including RAMS, SAPS, board-level reporting, and multi-site risk management.
As demand grew and the sector evolved, so did we. In 2024, we brought both platforms together under one name: SafetyNest - a single, powerful solution for every learning environment that’s as intuitive as it is compliant.
Since our launch in 2017, we’ve continued to adapt and improve, guided by regulation changes, user feedback, and a shared vision of creating safer, more streamlined systems for New Zealand educators.
